The Wharncliffe Weekender!!

Friday, March 31st, 2006

Hey everyone, i am Sat here in Santa Cruz with a stomach bug after my trip to Peru, which is actually good in a way cos i can catch up on e-mails and write some stuff for you all.
First off i need to let you know about this!

I am organising a Charity Mountain bike event on the 8/9th of July. Its going to be an XC race around Wharncliffe forest. We will have a fancy dress fun category which i will try and ride in if i am not too busy organising stuff. There will be camping and a bar for everyone on the Sat night so you can come and camp and chill out.
The event is going to be called the Wharncliffe Weekender and there will be a website going up pretty soon.
More news on that once it is up and running.

Get that date down in your diaries if you fancy some good old school MTB race fun.
Cheers…………………Steve

Hello again!

Well i suppose you can all see that my first update made on to the site. So here goes with a little more:

I am about to head off for my first trip of the season, i will start off in Peru for the megavalanche which is going to be a tuff one. Not only is Lopes also racing it is at major altitude.Cedric told me he was ill for 2 weeks after this race last year so i reckon i will be taking it easy. One cool thing is that we get to do the Macchu Picchu Inca trail. My Wife is jealous of this one, i owe her big time.

Then after Peru i go to Northern California for our Santa Cruz Syndicate Propaganda week, we have an appartment on the Beach where me and Rennie will be chillin for a week doing Photoshoots and interviews for all the cool mags. After this it will down to the season opener for the States “The Sea Otter classic”.

I will try to give you some updates while i am away, but i think it might be a little hard at 4500 meters altitude in Peru, might have to catch up with you all once i get to California.

Take it easy………………………..Steve

From a thankful Uncle :

‘I would like to thank steve peat and his friends for the help they gave
to my nephew at innerleithen on saturday 4th feb…..
My nephew suffered a fratured skull and concusion following a nasty fall
and collided with a tree stump. Even with all the safty gear he managed
to cause such damage. But with the help from Steve Peat, and his
friends, and the emergency services who attended, my nephew lives to
tell the tale about Steve Peat chatting to him and keeping him warm…

I can’t thank you guys enough…. and i hope my nephew returns to biking
soon……
