7th Annual Battle Royal – Doncaster Moto Park – October 7th and 8th

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

The wait is over , the 7th annual Battle Royal is back. Get down to Doncaster Moto Park for a fun filled weekend of minibikes , motocross and good times. The Battle Royal is a fitting celebrartion to the end of the season – whether you push pedals or twist throttles. A weekend dedicated to having a good time on your bike just for the fun of it. No points, no lap scoring , no trophies – just a good time on dirt bikes. There’s some great prizes on offer from Royal, Minibikepro, 661, Marzocchi and MBP – prizes are drawn from entries, not race results – so you could be taking home a set of Marzocchi minibike forks just for turning up for a weekends fun – that‚Äôs the spirit of the Battle Royal.

The minibike track at last years race was the best yet, so there’s a big challenge for the boys to step it up again. You can ride the mini track all day both Saturday and Sunday. Its four stroke minibikes all the way, come and race your mates on a custom made minibike track – designed and built by Trevor Scott, its sure to leave you smiling and wanting more. We keep a machine on site for the weekend and grade the track as we go to keep it running good, a real minibike track, built by minibike riders.

World Championships Downhill Final – Rotorua, New Zealand

SAM HILL WINS IT! MINNAAR SILVER! RENNIE BRONZE MEDALIST! PEATY 4TH.

One hopes for a good nights sleep on race night, but the fire alarm went off in our hotel at 5:00 am for 20 minutes! We got up to a fine looking morning with a few clouds drifting through. Practice has just finished, and the clouds are looking more threatening, and the weather forecast says rain might start between 3:00pm-6:00pm. We sure hope rain doesn’t decide the event, and we’re crossing our fingers since Peaty and Rennie are the two last riders down the hill.

With one hour of morning practice just wrapping up, Rennie did three practice runs, and Peaty two. Practice went well for both of them. The slippery sections are firming up, and the wooded section is where the spectator action is. Yesterdays practice was incredibly slick. Every top rider struggled one time or another with the section, falling heaps. The spectators are absolutely mental with their air horns, megaphones and snappy comebacks. There are gigantic horns buried under the ground that blare with a deafening sound that people have planted up there. Crazy colored wigs, flags draped over their shoulders; these people are ready for a great show.

Crankworx Festival – Steve 2nd

PEAT 2ND, RENNIE 4TH GARBANZO DOWNHILL

Rolling into Whistler for the Crankworx Festival the Syndicate’s ranks were a bit decimated as three of the four riders arrived injured. Kirt Vories, headlining the Santa Cruz Syndicate All Ride Demo Tour, was medicated during the week, as he was fresh out of a surgery to plate together his collarbone, an injury he suffered while filming recently.
Jamie Goldman made the most of the week training and doing photo shoots as his broken hand was still on the mend. It was just not ready to handle the big drops that the slopestyle course had to offer. Steve Peat was nursing a broken big toe, but was fine enough to meet the demands of a packed schedule.

Nathan Rennie had arrived weeks ahead of time and had been racing and filming (he placed 2nd at the Psychosis downhill 2 weeks before). Rennie spent days filming with Tony Butler and Clay Porter. Then he and Peaty filmed for 2 days with Bjorn Enga for the film PROGRESSION, due for a premiere at the Interbike.
