Santa Cruz, Royal Racing and Whitaker Signs sponsor 3 peaks challenge.

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Whilst raising money for Macmillan Nurses, a group of intrepid cyclists from Worksop are hoping to set a new record to complete the infamous three peaks challenge in just 24 hours.

The group, headed up by Steve’s sponsor Joe Whitaker of Whitaker signs are to start with Mount Snowdon in Wales before travelling to Mount Helvellyn in the Peak District Lake District for the second leg and ending the challenge at Ben Nevis in Scotland, just before the start of the world championships which are to be held there.

I think it will be very tight to do all three within the 24 hour time frame,” said Mr Whitaker. “It’s one thing doing the challenge in daylight hours individually, but with five of us trying to keep together it will be especially tricky.

The challenge is being sponsored by a number of local companies as well as Santa Cruz and Stiff Mountain Bikes, who are supplying all the mountain bikes and equipment, and Royal Racing, who are providing clothing for the team.

The team will set off from the base of Mount Snowdon at 5pm on 6th September. Sponsorship forms are available from Whitaker Signs, MG Glass and The Parish Oven, Thorpe Salvin and cheques can be made payable to The Mountain Bike Challenge Fund.

Good luck fella’s

Stephen Murray Jersey auction . . .

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

It’s time for the MTB World to get together for a fellow cyclist.

Stephen Murray is an amazing BMX dirt jumper, he has won X-Games Gold Medals and back to back Gravity Games Gold Medals.
On Friday June 22nd at the AST Dew Tour BMX Dirt Finals in Baltimore, MD, Stephen took a horrific fall on the final set of the dirt section whilst attempting a double back flip.
Stephen has received career ending injuries to his spinal cord and vertebrae.
Stephen is a good friend of myself and Nigel Page and we wanted to do something to help him pay for the specialist treatment he is receiving.
Medical bills can reach huge amounts in the USA, so, this is where we can all help.
The MTB pros have got together and donated Signed jerseys. These jerseys are to be auctioned off at the Fort William World champs, in the meantime you can lodge a bid for any of the jerseys [see the list below] to Nigel Page himself.
Whoever is the highest bidder at the end of the auction receives the jersey of their favorite Pro.

How cool is that!?

So get your bids into Nige ASAP ………. nigel@nigelpage.com

Here is the list. [ Check out the gallery for pictures of the jerseys. ]
